Old and New

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
2 Corinthians 5:17

The moving truck arrived.

We moved in.

We walked around and admired our new surroundings.

The kids fell in love with the stairs.

Alex turned 16.

Caleb and Alex went to church camp and came back with some "new old friends!"

Jake and Bailey played with fire.

We watched storms.

Jake and Bailey played in the rain.

Bailey wore her sunglasses at night...

and channelled her inner karate kid.

Painted Jake's bedroom.

Used old paint that smelled like burnt popcorn.

Needed to get out of the popcorn smelling house, so we went to the lake.

I realized that my son makes me look petite.

I refinished the frame on an antique mirror for the mantle.

Then, Meme and Gege came for a visit.

Alex tried to act like it was okay for Caleb to have physical contact with her.

Jake played the new guitar until his finger tips became sore.

Alex and Jake agreed to a midnight visit to Wal-Mart.

Caleb went to Wal-Mart too... on a different day.

I painted and decorated Bailey's room

and had vivid dreams about pepto bismol.

She loved it.

We had short visitors.

They wore Shawn out.

I had trouble keeping the lawn mower on four wheels.

Bailey and her friend Summer, from across the street, went for a swim.

The kids started their new schools.

I made no-bake cookies with Love for an after-school snack.

We saw a cool car at the grocery store.

Jake had trouble adjusting to not having 12 hours sleep.

He missed the bus and had to write.

I learned that Jake can be passive-aggressive.

Some friends came to visit. While they were here, they encouraged me to return to blogging.
Thank you girls!

Pig Skin

It's been a while. I know. I've just been really, really busy lately. Only 3 weeks until finals. I've worked and worked and worked this week! Well, only 33 hours but it feels like 60!
These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago. They are so happy that the weather is warming up.
They played football one day. In pajamas, cleats, and baseball helmets. I know, life isn't always normal around here but it is usually entertaining! Jake is giving her the "low down" on the next play.
"NO, go that way!" HURRY!
Set. Hut Hut. (or something like that)
"I'm open. Why's he trying to run?"
"Oh-no-you-di-unt!"

"Take that!"
"And that!"
Ok, so he had to show them that he really could take them.
Alex was sitting on the side lines. Until...
she got the opportunity to spike the ball.

I'm Scarred and Scared

Before I show all of you what we did last night, I think it is important for you to understand why I am the way I am. Well, one of the ways that I am. When I was four or five years old, my mom's friend took me to see this movie. From that day on, I was scarred. I no longer had Cinderella dreams but roller disco dreams. I don't remember when I got my first pair of skates. I do remember that they were metal and strapped on to my tennis shoes.
I was astonished to realize when we got to our destination that these two turkeys didn't know how to skate! Great mother of pearl! (Sorry, too much spongebob around here)
They're pretty cute, even though they didn't know how to skate! Didn't take too long though. He's sorta getting the hang of it!
I think she'll be ok. We're never letting her watch a movie about roller skating though. I can't let her be scarred like that.
I can hear the disco music in my head. Next thing you know, they'll be turning circles and doin' the jive. Oh, but that wasn't disco, was it?

We also took the youngest's BFF. They are so silly together. What's scarry is that they are two of a threesome. They all look very similar. They also talk alike, walk alike, sing alike.... Well, you get the point!
