I've been capped and pinned!

Nursing school has been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life! I began this journey by walking into an advisers office asking to take college algebra. I hadn't been in school in so many years and even then was a less than mediocre student. By the time I left the office that day, I was enrolled in the prerequisites that I would need for the nursing program. I called my husband (who wasn't thrilled with me taking only an algebra class) to let him know that I was going to be carrying a full load and had also taken out a student loan. That first semester was a breeze. Then I was accepted to the nursing program. As a freshman nursing student we were taught the basic skills of nursing. (ie...dropping and NG tube, starting an IV, giving an enema, wound care, etc...) and basic nursing assessment skills. Our whole class loved first semester. It was a blast! Second semester was the hardest four months of my life (almost) and every person in our class thought at one point that they weren't going to make it. We had tests in which we had to use thought process to determine the best answer out of four correct answers. We had 12 hour clinical days in which we were not allowed to be caught sitting down which was the least of potential offenses. Third semester was busy but good. We never really knew where we stood but we knew that we were all passing. We were given enough autonomy to become secure in what we were doing. It has been a wild ride but one that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world! I made it, with a 4.0!
