Shawn and I went to Jonesboro tonight. We went to buy the kids easter clothes. The kids are gone for the week to my mom and sisters houses. They love going on spring break, more so than their summer trip. I think it is because by spring break they're so desperate to get out of school that there couldn't be anything better than going to memaw's! Oh, back to date night. We walked around the mall for a few hours. I bought some clothes for the kids and some clinique make-up for myself. (Definately a luxury that makes me feel that I'm being very frivolous!) Please, women, if you're going to go to the trouble of wearing make-up, at least wear a good foundation and powder. You can fake it with everything else but if you have on cheap base and powder it flakes and peals. Not very attractive! We did some more shopping and went to dinner at Outback. It was a good evening. We talked like we used to. It was nice.
Oh, My husband just turned on some kind of wrestling award show. They just gave an award to Jim Ross. He is from Westville, OK (my hometown) and they played the boomer sooner song when he came out. The inducted him into the Wrestling Hall of Fame. Pretty impressive if I do say so myself, not many people from Westville make it over the state line, let alone become "famous"! How crazy!

ER Rotation
Today was the first of 2 days in the emergency room. I enjoyed being there today. We had a few people come in, which is a lot better than none! It makes for a VERY long 12 hours when nothing is happening! The nurse I was with was very nice and happy to teach. It makes a huge difference. I've been with nurses who tell you that they don't care what you do as long as you stay out of their way!
After tomorrow, only four more days of clinical!

Very, very happy girl!
Alex had her braces put on this morning. She is so happy but there were girls there getting their braces taken off and they were even more happy I think! I am so proud of Alex. She is not only pretty on the outside but just as pretty on the inside. She is kind and gentle with all creatures. I know that sounds kinda crazy but some kids are not gentle with anything! We got up at 5:30 to make it to her appointment by 7:30. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the office. She fell asleep in the car on the way home and I tried to get her to stay home with me today but she wanted to go to school. I gave her two Ibuprofen before her appointment so hopefully her mouth won't get too sore.
Anyway, it's been a good morning so far. I'm going to read a book this week. I haven't read anything for leisure since Christmas break. I bought "Watermelon" by Marian Keyes today and I'm sure I'll have it read by Thursday or Friday, depending on how much house cleaning that gets done!

No Births on my Watch

I need a break!
I'm tellin' ya, you never appreciate your mother untill you live four hours away from her! Right at this moment my children are on "my last nerve"! There is always one or two screaming and fighting. Another needs help with a school project. Then the last one is trying to tear something up. Oh my goodness! Now I understand the commercial from when I was younger, "Calgon take me away". Plus Shawn gets all pissy and stressed out. It just makes me want to scream! I'm feeling better now. Just have to get it out sometimes!
It's the craziest things that happen in this house! Wednesday morning I had just gotten out of the shower and was putting moisturizer on my face when I began to smell something strange. I smelled of my moisturizer thinking that maybe it had gone "bad"? Nope, something was burning! I ran down the hall to see smoke billowing out of the microwave. Caleb was nice enough to make breakfast for Bailey. He put a sausage biscuit in the microwave for 10 minutes! Have you ever smelled burnt sausage and biscuit? It is the most noxious smell! Well, not the most but it's gotta be close! Needless to say, we all went to work, school, and clinical smelling burnt! We've cleaned and cleaned and we're still trying to get rid of the smell. It's not as bad as it was but it's still there! Just another day in my life!
So, yes, I need a break badly!

Looking for Treasures
We went to the auction tonight looking for treasures. It was okay but nothing great at first. I was yawning every few minutes, thinking more and more about finding my bed. Suddenly I caught sight of a beautiful ladder back chair with a georgeous walnut finish. Usually at this particular auction, the peices need major touch-ups or complete refinishing. I enjoy refinishing but with school going on, I just don't have time for it lately. Anyway, this chair is so beautiful! Plus, I got such a good deal, $20! :-)
Time change tonight. Yuk! I have clinicals an hour away this week so I'll have to be up at 4:30 which would really be 3:30. I'm not looking forward to it at all! Well, yes, I am. It is my OB rotation so maybe I'll get to witness a birth. Now that would be GREAT!!
First blog
